Groupama sailing team's return to the water moved a step closer on Thursday as their replacement mast arrived at the Itajaí race village.

DHL, the Volvo Ocean Race's official logistics partner, organised the delivery of the 100-foot mast from their depot in Amsterdam to the sixth host port along the 2011-12 route.

The delivery by plane and truck was made necessary after Groupama lost their rig while leading on Leg 5 last week. As they were constructing a jury rig that would  see them finish the leg in third place, back in Europe the DHL logistics operation was in full swing.

"it's one more step in the preparation to have the boat back in the water as soon as possible," said Groupama Logistics Manager Hervé Le Quillec.

"It was very important to get the mast from Europe to Curitiba and then to Itajaí. Everything went well."
