The Volvo Ocean Race stopover is going to be extraordinary. The organizers will turn the docks of the Submarine Base into a reference spot for show and music. With true stars coming in June…

The organizers want top of the bill artists next to many musical shows and concerts, to bring a large audience to Lorient in June. The programming had already well begun with the concerts of Yannick Noah on June 22 and Sergent Garcia on June 23. It is now making a step further as Revolver, a rising group of French pop music, is coming on June 29.

Revolver, the quiet revolution

The group was launched in 2010 with the hit Get Around Town (100,000 copies sold), and nominated twice for the Victoires de la Musique (French Grammies) on the same year. Revolver is now considered to be an essential group of French pop music. The young trio has had a serious classical music training, however they are also able to make thousands of people dance on ballads, as they did during the festival “Les Vieilles Charrues”. Their last opus, Let Go, stays in the initial spirit of the parisian band, but also shows the band’s will to make their songs a little bit more rock. After two years of tour and a remarkable show at the last “Printemps de Bourges”, Revolver is making a strong coming back, with a wider, intense and refreshing new album. And they will show it to you on June 29.

Merzhin, coming back

Fifteen years after its creation, the celtic rock group comes back with a new show, mixing old hits revised with their musical evolution and some new pieces, for a concert that should give those sixteen days a stimulating tone right from the start, as Merzhin will be in charge of the difficult task of opening the festival on June 16, with their great free concert.

Partnership with the Festival Interceltique

In order to conclude this well-stocked stopover, the Festival Interceltique de Lorient (Lorient Interceltic Festival) is in charge of the programming of the evening, on June 30, with two major shows: Salsa Celtica, a scottish group known all over the world that allies brilliantly jazz, gaelic and afro-cuban rythms, will share the evening with Breizharock, who associates  qui associe bagadou (typical britton groups) players and contemporary artists like Soïg Sibéril (guitar), Pat O’May (electric guitar) or Jean-Marc Illien (keyboard).

Not a day without any music

With these great stars and the rest of the programming for those sixteen days in Lorient, there will be music for all, every day on the docks of the Submarine Base. Brass bands, street music, children’s shows, the celebration will be amazing. This ambition was made possible thanks to the involvement of local associations, especially the music school and the association MAPL (Musiques d’Aujourd’hui au Pays de Lorient, Contemporary Music in Lorient). And also on June 21 as every musician will be invited to come to celebrate the “Fête de la Musique” (Music Day), an exceptional moment.

The organizers want people to feel like they can’t get enough, and no doubt they will by seeing the programming !
