Festive day

Talentueux dans tous les domaines
Talentueux dans tous les domaines

After the rain, sun finally came back this Saturday afternoon, like lightness in the air. The day started with a zumba exercise, and a hundred dancers joined together to enjoy the moment (obviously men are not really fond of this kind of exercise).

Then, visitors walked among brass bands and street music waiting for the big concert Sergent Garcia, which was preceded by the eagerly awaited performance of Fanfare en Pétard (program has been slightly modified, see ad on Internet).

Enjoying the sun and summer that suddenly came back on the area of the submarine base of Keroman, was clearly the purpose of the visitors having a walk on the quays. Simple coincidence or good feeling, it was that very day that Lorient Grand Large organization team had chosen to increase the street entertainments. Among juggle shows with Slam and Balls, lively musics of the Nymphonik Orchestra brass band or the tomfooleries of Bulles de Zinc band, everyone could find pleasure.

Even if the organization team had to wait to open the bookings for Yannick Noah´s concert because of the weather, finally the public massively came to applaud the singer. And the great Yannick was as usual, warm and generous, and he did not forget to get off the stage to greet the disabled persons coming from the centre of Kerpape.

Race against time and butter cooking

Meanwhile, other sailors took advantage of this sunny weather to sail around Groix Island. Their Minis were moored next to the VOR70 and even if it was not time for the competitors of the Chrono 6.50 to establish new speed records, still they have enjoyed a beautiful ride along the wild island coast. Sunday should be windier, what about the last leg?

For others, Friday was the opportunity to board on Groupama 3 for a ride, the Maxi Trimaran on which Franck Cammas won the Route du Rhum. Sailors of the Volvo Ocean Race who were the guests on board, are used to suffer from the waves sweeping the boat.  For once, they enjoyed a ride with a speed above the 30 Knots and were amazed to sail at such a speed and keep dry. It looked like holidays in some way ... It was also in a relaxed atmosphere that crews were in confrontation during a pancakes competition. They discovered the traditional Breton art of cooking with true “Biligs” and made their own “Crêpes”.

An iodized programming

The musical program then will be on the theme of the Sea with marine songs coming from groups used to sing in the coast ‘harbours. Djiboudjep opened the festival this Saturday, tomorrow it will be the Mat´lots du Vent, then the Gabiers d´Artimon. A beautiful addition to activities offered on the fishing harbour.

But the Volvo Ocean Race is also the opportunity to learn and discover. Charles Caudrelier, crewmember on Groupama 4 and brilliant single-handed sailor, came to share its experience with the anthropologist Stephanie Brule-Josso, in the auditorium of the Cité de la Voile. Similarly, the Portuguese sculptor Joao Parrinha came to explain the meaning of works produced at each stage of the Volvo Ocean Race in partnership with the Skeleton Association. Killer whales at Miami, the ocean floor at Lorient, the inspirations are varied but the message is always the same. The marine world is fragile, and we must fight for its protection.
